Made entirely by hand and processed by tin blackening, the miniature depicts the Holy warrior Dmitry of Solunsky-dressed as a noble warrior, with a sword symbolizing the power of truth and a shield tucked behind his back, symbolizing the openness of Dmitry in the profession of his faith.

Dimitri was the son of the proconsul of Thessalonica (modern Thessaloniki), his parents were secret Christians, and Dimitri was secretly baptized and instructed in the Christian faith. At that time, Christians were severely persecuted by the Roman authorities. After the death of Dmitry's father, the Emperor Galerius Maximian, who ascended the Roman throne in 305, summoned Dmitry to his presence. Galerius was impressed by the educated and capable young man. Dmitry was appointed proconsul of Thessalonica. However, when he returned to his native city, instead of subjecting Christians to persecution, he declared himself a Christian and began to teach the people the faith. When he learned that the Emperor wanted to punish him, Demetrius distributed all his possessions to the poor, and died at the hands of Galerius ' servants.

Saint Dmitry of Solunsky is revered as the patron Saint of soldiers, defenders of the Fatherland and patriots.
