Made entirely by hand and covered with artistic paintings, the miniature depicts the Holy equal-to-the-apostles Grand Prince Vladimir, the Baptist of Russia-who for centuries predetermined the spiritual fate of the Russian Church, popularly called Vladimir the Red Sun.
Vladimir was the grandson of the Holy equal-to-the-apostles Olga, the son of Svyatoslav. Great ruler, warrior, strategist-in 988, in the waters of the Dnieper, Saint Vladimir baptized his people, declaring: "If anyone does not come to the river tomorrow-rich or poor, beggar or slave - it will be my enemy." Thus the spiritual birth of the people took place, the idols fell, the temples of God grew up, and Holy Russia appeared.
